Millennials Can Own A House If they Do This

Hey all you people out there born between the 1980's and above (Depending which trend you follow)..Guess What? How much of a home Could you afford if you stopped a few little behaviors?

As I pruse the internet many interesting facts about Millennials jumped out and grabbed me, creating that if only people did this, then they could have that. Have I lost you yet? NO...Good..Even in I have, just keep reading. 

Standing in line at Starbucks today to buy 3 small Iced Chi Teas for my girls at a whopping $14.73 made me think...."What if all the Starbucks people just made coffee at home and saved their bucks?"

SO I began doing some basic math. A 16 ounce coffee costs around $2.10. Lets just say $2.00 to make this simple. I like simple and easy! I look at the line of 20 people or so and figured, WOW crazy money going into this place. The coffee is a bit to strong for my taste, but its not bad. OK, sorry, let me focus here!

Say you drink 1, coffee a day at $2.00 a cup. So that is $14.00 a week, $56 a month, $672 a year! If you score here, then chances are you are able to made cuts here and there and in this tough economy, save yourself some money! 

I look at all the other trends out there, from cell phone data, high speed internet service, the latest I Phone upgrades, and well, you get the point. This can add up to thousands a year in savings, just by bypassing a few fads or trends. 

QUESTION 1 - Can You Give Up Your Star Bucks Coffee Today????

Studies are showing tat this generation is entering the work force more educated and ready to stay put a little longer than their Generation X counterparts. Stability is a good thing when looking to buy a home. Having just recently gone thru this process, it is super important to have a steady income and career. As a hiring manager, I will say this, this latest generation moves all over the place and can't sit still for more than a year. This my friends, will not help you as you try to own your own home.

QUESTION 2 - Can you Stay Put at your Job for more than a few years?

A great quality or trait most millennials posses is their ability to accept change. As times change and demands increase, adapting and responding only increases the odds that owning a home will be in your future. Interest rates change, insurance goes up, bills inflate, and well whatever else you can think of. The idea here is for the millennial to keep up with the times, change accordingly and stabilyze. 

QUESTION 3 - Can you Accept Change Easily?

Did you know that millennials spend more time browsing the internet than buying? This one makes me happy as I suddenly accept that I am not different :-) 

Browsing is a great way to get some of the window shopping out of your system without breaking the bank. Think of how much money you save by not throwing it all away on every little pop up ad that craves your attention. 

QUESTION 4 - Are you a Browser or a Buyer?

Did you know that 57% of millennials compare prices and are picky at what they spend? Interestingly, 59% want quality when making a purchase. Again, a great way to buy things that last longer at more competitive rates. This helps save money over time. Believe me, this comes in handy when trying to master a home budget. Guess what? The same goes when you look at a home and compare prices and home qualities. A great skill to possess.
